Grade 6 to 10 (M6–M10).

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) at ISSR is an international programme, aligned with the Swedish national curriculum. It is the link between the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). The MYP encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the real world. Building a solid academic foundation, the MYP develops students’ confidence in taking ownership of their own learning through the development of the approaches to learning (ATLs) and the IB learner profile attributes.

Curriculum

The IB MYP curriculum requires the teaching of eight subject groups in M6–M9

  • Language and literature (English)
  • Language acquisition (English, French or Spanish, and Swedish)
  • Individuals and societies
  • Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • Arts (Music and Visual arts)
  • Physical and health education
  • Design

During each year of the MYP selected concepts are explored across two subject areas to form an interdisciplinary unit of work.

In addition, MYP students engage in compulsory Service as Action activities. The Service as Action activities should benefit individuals or a community and can take place in or outside of school.
